About Master Chung
Young Jin Chung was born in Taegu, Korea in 1945. He started his
training at the age of 4. His first teacher was his father, a 9th
degree Grand Master. Master Chung earned black belts in Tae Kwon
Do and Judo at the age of 13, which at that time, was the youngest
age this rank could be achieved.
In High School, Master Chung competed throughout Korea and became
the Korean High School Grand Champion in 1963. He went on to represent
Korea in the 1967 Universal Games in Tokyo, Japan and finished with
a Silver Medal. He was named All Korean Champion in his division.
In addition, he took 4th place in the World Games in Salt Lake City,
Utah.
In 1968, Master Chung was awarded the prestigious honor of “Athlete
of the Year” in Korea and in 1969 was the Collegiate Grand
Champion of Korea in the open weight division.
After graduating with a BA in Public Administration, he got married
and moved to the United States in December, 1969. He has lived with
his wife in the Miami Valley since then and has raised three beautiful
daughters.
Master Chung opened up his first school in May of 1971 on Main Street
in Dayton and has taught thousands of Dayton residence the art of
Korean Self Defense ever since. Several of the students who started
with him back then are still with him today.

Grand Master Chung has been bestowed a 10th degree Black Belt in
the Worlds Martial Arts Counsil ranking for Kyuk Ki Do, and is one
of the few Grand Masters to hold simultaneous Grand Master rankings
in Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Kyuk Ki Do.

Through dedication and discipline, which he developed early in life,
he has accomplished all the goals he has set for himself. Due to
his modesty, the honors, awards, and numerous citations he has recieved,
Master Chung has created a following of students who seek to model
their lives after his example.
Students who have trained under him have learned more than how to
punch and kick. They have recieved training by his good example
in self-control, patience, discipline, and confidence.
